A Dozen Amusement Park Visitors Stranded On Superman Roller Coaster Ride

News reports that a dozen amusement park visitors were rescued from the Six Flag’s Superman roller coaster ride in Vallejo California this past week. The riders were stuck in a stalled train car more than 150 feet in the air for nearly two hours. The ride stopped just at the top of the ride, right before a twist. Fortunately, the riders were stuck in an upright position, rather than while hanging upside down. It was not immediately known what caused the mechanical failure. Firefighters and a park mechanic went up in a personnel bucket to reach the riders with the intention of either starting the ride or to take the passengers down individually. However, a mechanic was eventually able to restart the ride, with the passengers lowered backwards to the ground.

In this instance the visitors to Six Flags were lucky – however, this is not always true. On rare occasions individuals may suffer serious personal injuries or even a fatal accident at an amusement park in California.
